Worcester Women’s History Bike Tour is a Success!

Did you catch the T&G story and photos from our ride Sunday for Bay State Bike Week? Perfect weather set the stage for about 45 riders of all ages to take a 10-mile loop with three stops at historical sites.

Some folks know how to ride in style!

We started at Elm Park and wound our way east.

IMG_0660 IMG_0665IMG_0666On Winter Street, Preservation Worcester docent (and City Councilor Moe Bergman) told us about Emma Goldman’s ice cream parlor.

IMG_0668We rode down Main Street and around to Oread Castle Park, where docent Jan Parent of Preservation Worcester told us about the Oread Institute.

Then we had a long stretch out Mill Street and on to the Abby Kelley Foster house on Mower Street, where Mary Plummer of Worcester Women’s History Project recounted the life of Abby and husband Stephen.

IMG_0687Most of the group headed back to Elm Park to finish the loop, while some peeled off to head home. Many kudos to all our organizers! Here are the ones on the ride:
